What are the kind of backlinks you should have to get higher search engine rankings? (A post of beginners)

This is a follow up post to "What are backlinks? (A post for beginners)"

Tomorrow I posted about what are backlinks and why do you need them. Today I will go deeper into the topic and explain what are the kinds of backlinks that are favoured by the Search Engines and what are the kinds of backlinks that don't have any effect on your rankings. (Don't get confused and let me explain)

There are two kinds of backlinks. First are dofollow backlinks (that search engines count) and secondly there are nofollow backlinks (that search engines don't care about). The reason nofollow backlinks were created was internet spam because people had started to spam other blogs and forums by just posting links in comments and other fields and they got backlinks for providing nothing of value.

Then bloggers and forum owners started to use nofollow tag in their HTML and this tag told google not to count the links in their blogs as backlinks and just ignore them. This thing spreaded fast and today most of the blogs and forums online have a nofollow tag. (Keep Reading)

Now what you have to do is look for the blogs and forums that allow dofollow links and you can do that by searching gooogle for "list of dofollow blogs" or "list of dofollow forums" (or any other combination you like) and post comments with your link in them and you get backlinks.

Please Note that you have to provide value and information and you have to make the comment or post real and related to the topic to get it approved and to get clicks. Don't just go to a forum or a blog to post a link but engage in the chat and you will be rewarded.

I will be posting more information on this topic and I will also post a dofollow blogs and forums list on my blog in the coming posts and I hope that I made myself clear. For any questions please Contact Me (using the Contact Afaq link on the top of the page).

Should you start a blog if you can’t write?

Blogging is something that has grown up extremely fast in the last few years and many people have started to make six and even seven figure incomes from their blogs. The blogging tools keep on getting better and better every day but there is a question, "Should you blog if you are not a good writer or if you don't enjoy writing?"

Many people have different answers to this questions but what I think is that you don't need to care about your writing skills and stuff if you want to blog. A blog is where you post you content and your ideas about stuff and if you start a blog you should start it on a topic you like and you know about. I can't start a weight loss blog, WHY? The simple answer is that I don't know a bit about weight loss and I just don't enjoy writing about it.

What I would recommend is start with the topic you like and know about and go on. Don't even care about your writing skills and blog about what you love and know about. Make it a fun journey and you will make money in the process and if you just blog because you just want to make some quick cash then I am sorry for you because blogging is not quick money.

What are backlinks? (A post for beginners)

I had a little conversation with my friend on twitter and here's what it was:

mohammad111 @shahnawazkarim I checked yr blog & loved it but U dont have enough backlinks, If U wnt higher Search Engine rankings U need backlinks.

mohammad111 @shahnawazkarim I recommend that you work on getting backlinks to your blog.

shahnawazkarim @mohammad111 have no clue abt that... help me with that :)

After this I realized that this is a topic that a lot of people don't know about and I should write something about it, so in today's post I will try to solve the confusion of my friend and some beginners (hopefully).

Now first of all What are these backlinks? A backlink is simply a link to your site from any other site. For example, I create a link to http://www.problogger.net and it is a link that leads anyone to Problogger.net who clicks on it but in other words I have given Problogger.net a backlink (simple).

Now you may be thinking Why does any website need backlinks? Simple answer to this question is that google counts these backlinks to rank a page and decide if the page is popular enough to be ranked on the top of the searches or not.

This is what a backlink is in simple english. Tomorrow I will post more about backlinks and what are the kinds of backlinks you should consider working on. For questions or comments you can Contact Me or you can post a comment and I will reply.

Give your blog a personal touch?

Giving your blog a personal touch is very important for your success.  There are many blogs online and the bloggers try to use marketing language or they try to be professionals in their posts and the as a result they fail to make money blogging.

The reason why these bloggers can't stay into this business is because they try to be someone they are not.  As I mentioned in this post being yourself is a very important factor in your success online.
By being personal I don't mean putting the pictures of your family all over your how to make money online blog.  What I mean by that is that you should use your own words and excent and you should not try to prove yourself a professional in the field you are not.  Using your own voice as a blogger is a lot like branding your blog.  You don't put Problogger.net logo on your logo do you?  If you don't do that then why should you use Darren's words from Problogger.net
Many people argue that it's a great thing to look up information from other sites and blogs then put it on your blog and in reality that's what many blogger do.  For bloggers who believe in that I would say that you should not just copy and paste stuff from other blogs but instead you should take the knowledge and ideas you need from the other blog and then take the time to write that information in your own words and make it your own and then you should put it on your blog.
The bottom line is that you should never use any one else's content on your blog and you should try to be original and this will help you make your blog stand out in all of the crowd of the blogs.

How to find Local Twitter users (Tweeters in your area)?

Twitter is growing like wildfire these days and so are the tools available for twitter.

A tool that I just found out about called "Twitter Local" helps you find tweets in your area of Search. For example, I live in Kenner, LA and I want to get the tweets made in 5 miles of Kenner only, I will simply go to Twitter Local and enter my details and I get all the tweets being made in 5 miles diameter of Kenner only.

You can use Twitter Local to find new people to follow in your area or to just find out what people are tweeting about in a certain location.

Go to http://www.twitterlocal.net to download the software

You will need Adobe Air to use the software. You can download Adobe Air (if you don't have it) from here: http://www.adobe.com/products/air
